Blueprint’s Smart Tag Wired is the easiest capture tool in the industry. While we offer three versions of Smart Tag, Wired has arguably the most features. Smart Tag Wired blends traditional tethered capture with new technology to keep your shoots moving quickly and accurately. Capture images, data and orders all in the same tool!
The first thing you need to do is setup your station. Tether your camera to your computer and open your tethering software.
Please note: Blueprint reads the images out of your hot folder; you will need to provide the software to deposit the image into the hot folder.
Once your station is set up, in Blueprint, navigate to the job and click Tools > Smart Tag.
Once you've started your Wired Smart Tag session, you’ll need configure your Smart Tag settings. Click on the Settings cog in the top toolbar. Here, you will set your options:
Blueprint detects the face on every image that's in the software. By detecting the size of the subjects face compared to the image size, it can automatically head-size the image as it’s taken.
Automatic Aspect Ratio
As images are deposited in the subjects, this setting will set the aspect ratio of each image for you.
Primary Image Selection
Decide if you’d like the default primary image to be the first image taken on the subject, or the last.
Barcode Scan Field
If you exported barcodes, choose the subject data field embedded in the barcodes.
Choose which subject-data fields you want to see in the subject list on the left.
Camera Hot Folder
Enable watching and choose the folder your camera is depositing the images into.
Printer Hot Folder
Choose the folder you’d like your print templates exported into.
Print to Device
If you’d like, print your print templates directly to your printer.
If you don’t want to have to click on each subject. . .don’t worry, use our handy barcode generator. By clicking Tools > Exports, you can choose between our 30-Up or 8-Up options. After choosing your layout, you can configure your barcodes and save them as a template to be used on other jobs. Simply configure your barcodes then choose Save in the top right corner.
Once in a Smart Tag session, don’t worry about being focused in the search bar, Blueprint is smart enough to know you are scanning a barcode. No matter if you are focused into a text field, Blueprint will detect that a barcode has been scanned and will search for that subject.
Easily create, edit or delete your subjects while in a Smart Tag Wired session. Once you have chosen a subject, simply click the Info tab to see all of your used subject data fields. Here you can edit or add any data you’d like. At the bottom of the Info tab, you can SHOW ALL fields to see all subject data fields we have available.
At the bottom left of the application, you’ll see a New Subject button. Here you can create a subject on the fly.
Beside the search bar, you will see an option to filter the subjects. By clicking this button, you’ll be able to filter your subject lists to your exact specifications. We find the ability to only show subjects without images especially useful. As you photograph each subject, the subject is filtered out of the list.
Once your subject is chosen, you are ready to take your photos. Take as many images as you’d like before moving on to the next subject. As you take the picture, you will see the image in the center pane. You can zoom in or out, change the aspect ratio on the bottom toolbar. The left toolbar also has several options to choose from. The features here include:
- Mark the image as primary – star the image you’d like to use in the order.
- Hide the image – instead of deleting the image, you can hide it to decide later.
- Show all images – this option allows you to show the images that were taken on this subject in a previous session.
- Head-size – If you chose not to auto-headsize, you can click this button and let Blueprint work its magic.
- Print – if you have print templates assigned to the job, you can print directly from the subject.
- Yearbook – choose the image as the yearbook selection.
As you change subjects and take the photos, you will notice a history of your images taken on the right side. If you mess up, simply drag the image into the correct subject.
By clicking the green $+ button in the top right, you can quickly enter your orders. Once you’ve entered into the order entry mode, you’ll simply choose the package and configure any options that need to be chosen to create a valid order. Then select cash or card, and complete the order. It is that easy!
Smart Tag Wired can be used online or offline. If you need to use offline, just download the job before losing internet. You can do this from the Jobs list by selecting the job and clicking Download, or just open the job! Once you have the job download, feel free to disconnect from the internet and start using the application. Once you entered a Smart Tag Wired session, you’ll be able to access everything mentioned above.
